We often view wineries without a long track record with a little bit of skepticism. Let’s face it, the newcomers have something to prove. There are no givens in the wine game, and we’re in the business of selling nothing but great stuff. Then every once in awhile, folks start pulling corks for us, and doubt gives way to extreme enthusiasm. Enter Alpha-Omega, one of our favorite recent entries on the Napa scene.
Winemaker Jean Hoefliger cut his teeth at Newton Vineyards before joining the A-O team. Working alongside consultant Michel Rolland (one of the world’s most influential palates), it’s like watching two guys pushing the buttons on a missile launch, such is the trajectory of where this cellar is headed. They scour the Valley for the right fruit sources, bring the fruit to the mothership in Rutherford and put on a winemaking clinic on how to bottle liquid hedonism. You’ll thank us later for the introduction to this All-Star lineup.
