Since Napa affords us access to more than a few great examples of Cabernet and Merlot, we don’t always get our hands on Bordeaux, so when you see one in our book you know it’ll be a real treat. A bona fied “Left Bank” wine producer, the wine draws its finesse from the rocky soils left in the wake of the Gironde River. Manou’s vines have an average age of forty years, with a small percentage planted in the days before phylloxera rained on everyone’s parade. The gods of wine have a soft spot for Bordeaux, and they’re totally smiling on Clos Manou.
