While folks have been growing grapes in Lake County for decades, it wasn't until guys like Robert Mondavi and Andy Beckstoffer started investing in the lands just north of Napa Valley about 15 or so years ago, that this unique northern California region started registering on many a wine geek's radars. Including ours. Over the years, we have discovered that certain hilly sites in Lake County bear striking soil and climate profiles to the famous Napa Valley, and it's from one of the region's single best sites - and single best growers - that we pulled the fruit for the inaugural vintage of our Road Agent label.
 
Made by resident Bounty Hunter winemaker Tim Milos - a biology and genetics expert who abandoned a PhD in molecular genetics to pursue winemaking, or what he calls the perfect intesection of biology, architecture, history and art - Tim sourced Road Agent's first Cabernet Sauvignon-driven blend predominantly from a hillside vineyard layered with high draining gravels, sandy loam and ancient volcanic soils. He prefers wines that are expressive of a place and not its maker, and this young, vibrant blend may be fun, juicy and just shy of twenty bucks, but it more than meets Tim's vineyard-driven standards. If you ask us, it's just pure highway robbery.
