Grown in the limestone gravel worn off the face of the monolith known simply as the La Roche (The Rock), this is terroir-driven Chardonnay all the way. It tastes like limestone. It also tastes like lemons, flowers and honeysuckle, but the minerality and verve on the palate call to mind a superlative Puligny-Montrachet for a whole lot less than you’d pay for the stuff from up north.
