The Vacheron family has come a long way from the days when great-grandfather Maurice tended a few acres of silex (the flint-rich soils that helped put the Loire Valley on the winegrowing map) along a small village road in Sancerre. While his son, Jean, was responsible for turning his grandfather's small hobby into a full-fledged wine business, grandsons Denis and Jean-Louis are the men who turned Domaine Vacheron into a world renowned wine estate. Today, they remain a true family business, with Denis managing the vineyard, Jean-Louis controlling cellar operations, Denis' son Jean-Laurent tending vines alongside his father, and his cousin Jean-Dominique apprenticing in the winery.
