Robert Parker wrote of this release: '…it offers a boatload of pleasure at a realistic price. It is a peppery, spicy, slightly herbal, deliciously fruity red that is meant to be consumed during its first 2-4 years of life… Pazzo remains the perfect bistro wine from proprietor Claus Janzen’s blend of Sangiovese and a few other grapes.'
Claus Janzen’s affiliation with Caymus Vineyards afforded him access to some pretty cool properties when Bacio Divino was getting started. As Caymus’ export manager, his wheeling and dealing put him in contact with some top-shelf growers who were willing to part with a ton or two here and there. Like half the denizens of Napa Valley, Claus dreamed of monkeying around with a few barrels in the garage and seeing what came of it. He couldn’t have known that one day the Parkers of the world would be singing his praises.
