Founded by Lou Kapcsándy on the site of the State Lane property (the soul of Beringer's Private Reserve Cabernet for more than 20 years), the vineyard was replanted under the guidance of famed consultant Helen Turley. The winery was then designed as a 100% functionally-driven facility… it is effectively a maternity ward for grapes and may be cleaner than hospital standards. Raised in the barrel by Rob Lawson - Helen's hand-picked successor - and Denis Malbec (who was literally born at Château Latour), this is a project that bears the fingerprints of serious players.
Lou's Old World perspective as a native of Hungary and decades-long importer of Bordeaux is reflected in his wine. Working alongside his wife Bobbie and son Louis Jr., the goal is to deliver brilliant California fruit and flavor with guts, backbone and stuffing, the sort of reds that can sit among the legendary first growths and convince experienced palates that it is one of them. We can guarantee that getting on the inside track now with this thrilling new project will put you in prime position down the road, because it's going to be scarce…
