2006 Weatherby Proprietary Red Napa Valley
Need a little Right Bank elegance for your cellar? Fashioned from fruit grown in Napa's Oak Knoll district – rapidly gaining fame for exceptional Merlot and Cabernet Franc – this new release is a purple tapestry of flavor. Cherry compote, blueberries, baking chocolate and white smoke elements create a formidable backbone, and fine-grained tannins just glide across the finish. The provenance and pedigree of this blend are hush-hush by contract, but let's just say there’s notable value to be had here…

2007 Oberon 'Bounty Hunter Barrel Selection' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
We came, we saw, we blended. Working in conjunction with our friends at Oberon, we were afforded access to their cellar and tasted dozens of individual lots (work, work, work). What we settled on was a four-barrel spice rack that captures the essence of the superlative '07 vintage. Sexy black fruits and anise with a healthy whack of oak caramel will appeal to the most jaded Napa Cabernet palate. This is fruit forward and muscular at once, again reflecting the nature of a vintage destined for 'classic' status. A mere 95 cases produced.

2007 Ridge Runner Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast
The Ridge Runner rides with the sole purpose of delivering value where it counts: In your glass. Wednesday night reds, tailgate specials, neighborhood block parties, a no brainer...however you want to think of these, the consistent theme is 'taste-per-dollar.' Not every occasion calls for expensive wine. We get it. That doesn't mean that you have to muscle down swill or apologize for what you're serving. Here's to drinking wisely and economic recovery! It's awfully tough to find tasty Cabernet with actual varietal character for this kind of dough. Black cherries and oak toast with just the right dose of tannin to keep things on the level. What you don't buy, we'll drink ourselves!

2007 Tin Star Proprietary Red Napa Valley
We're not going to brag too much as we created this barrel selection, but you're going to like it. You're really going to like it. We will refund your money if this doesn't rock your world. How's that for a guarantee? Smoky, sensual blue and black fruits are lifted on the palate by a gorgeous, multi-layered texture and weight. This is pure Napa attitude that just won't quit. Our only concern is that we didn't make enough...250 cases are all that exist. Prepare to be thrilled.

  2008 Streamside Sauvignon Blanc Napa
When we developed the Streamside label, we had a pretty straightforward concept: leverage our relationships with top growers in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys in order to craft premium wines that don't break the pocketbook.Stylistically, the Bounty Hunter winemaking Team, led by Tim Milos, aimed to make a fresh, high acid white with minimal oak. An ultra-clean palate weight showcases its nuances of grapefruit, kiwi and citrus zest. The sophisticated mineral notes that support the fruit aren't often found in wines of this price category. Poolside or porch-side, this is your house white, a versatile crowd pleaser that is as 'at home' at formal dinner parties and the cocktail hour as it is at your backyard barbecue.

2006 Beaulieu 'Tapestry' Reserve Napa Valley
Notes of blueberry and Bing cherry race through the rich core of blackberry and dark currant, accented by cocoa and toast. This blend of the five classic Bordeaux varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petite Verdot- delivers a long, persistent finish loaded with ripe fruit flavor. Beautiful now, and should drink well for the next decade.

2007 Alexana Revana Pinot Noir Dundee Hills
Dr. Madaiah Revana has always known how to seek out the most iconic female winemakers - like Heidi Peterson Barrett, who produces his Revana Cabernets in the Napa Valley - and forge lasting partnerships with them. When he decided to make Oregon Pinot Noirs to rival Burgundy in terms of complexity and length, he turned specifically to Lynn Penner-Ash, one of the Willamette Valley's premier Pinot producers.Together, the pair has developed a steep, rugged-sloped 80-acre property in Willamette Valley's Dundee Hills. Blocked by the Chelaham Mountains in the North and the Coast Range to the west, this unique sub-appellation isn't threatened by the severe weather of many of Oregon's less insulated areas. And because of the vineyard's slope and elevation, frost, too, is kept at bay. Over 18 different soil types spread over the vineyards, mostly silt and stone made of volcanic ash and clay. It is from these diverse soils that Lynn cultivates aromatic, balanced grapes, which she transforms into Pinots that typically receive top ratings from both Parker and Spectator. In fact, Spectator says she brings 'the perfect blend of science, artistry, and passion' to her winemaking, which makes Lynn - and her wines - a true triple threat.Ultimate Food Pairing: Cinnamon and clove-spiced stir-fried pork with lettuce cups.APRIL 2010 CLUB PINOT WINE CLUB SELECTION

2007 Parallel Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
You’ve been reading the hype surrounding the 2007 vintage in Napa? It’s 100% justified as you’ll taste here. Fabulous richness and fruit purity leaning to black fruits, graphite, purple berries and barrel char are the product of perfect weather and the ability to pick at optimal ripeness. It’s almost not fair to float a softball like that at winemaker like Philippe Melka. This is an affordable look at what he’s capable of in the cellar.Parallel Wines is what happens when ten 30-year winemaking masters and close friends come together to found a visionary wine label. Leading the tribe are Philippe Melka, named Winemaker of the Year by Food & Wine Magazine, and winegrower Jim Barbour, who has been pruning vines since the 1960s and now manages over 600 acres across the Napa Valley. The Parallel team makes classically styled Cabernet Sauvignon up on a 62-acre estate tucked in the high reaches of Conn Valley overlooking postcard perfect Lake Hennessey. While Jim Barbour has only planted seven acres with Cabernet Sauvignon, he also maintains grape growing contracts with premium vineyards across the valley. Jim knows soil and when it comes to planting the best rootstocks and clones in each site, he's an expert matchmaker. For both Jim and Philippe, the vineyard comes first. Philippe considers himself a non-interventionist in the cellar. If the 2007 Parallel Cabernet Sauvignon is any indication, it's a philosophy that's served Philippe extraordinarily well. And, with its pure core of fruit and integrated tannin structure, this is a wine that will serve you well too.Ultimate Food Pairing:Prime Angus rib eye with cheddar grits and stuffed morel mushrooms.MAY 2010 KILLER CAB WINE CLUB SELECTION

2007 Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Light Fuse and stand back! We put the ’06 in our catalog last year and were flooded with orders once folks got their lips on it. Everyone took it up the ladder a rung or two in ’07 (it was that kind of year), so we’re preparing for serious interest in this release. The Fuse crew has come out swinging with black fruits, purple berries and oak toast kicking into overdrive on the palate. Coming to you with a value like this is why we taste hundreds of Cabernets every year. You’re going to thank us!

  2009 Robert Sinskey 'Abraxas' Carneros
An overwhelming staff favorite and a regular glass pour at our wine bar, Sinskey’s Abraxas is like a sliver of Alsace dropped into Carneros. Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Blanc riff like a jazz quartet on fire. Sourced from a biodynamically-farmed estate vineyard, it’s a lithe white with curves in all the right places. Meyer lemon, pear and honeysuckle notes are offset by a brilliant minerality that begs for another sip. We’ve always had a soft spot for wines with this much sophistication.

2006 Poggio al Tesoro 'Sondraia' Bolgheri
One of America’s most respected Italian importers – Leonardo LoCascio of Winebow – has launched his own project in Tuscany’s most desirable coastal address. The critics have approved. Wine Spectator loved its 'Beautiful aromas of currant bush, tobacco, chocolate and berries. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, juicy finish.' and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate called it 'a classic expression of Bolgheri that captures all of the qualities that make reds from this Tuscan appellation so irresistible; namely generous fruit and a warm, harmonious personality.'   2008 Meiomi by Belle Glos Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
The entry-level Pinot from the family responsible for Caymus Vineyards is a champion in the 'taste-per-dollar' category. Blending from carefully selected vineyard parcels (they do have an eye for great dirt), they've created a value proposition worth noting. Primary fruit notes of wild red berry and cranberry get a little allspice and oak tickle on the palate. All in all, it just blatantly outperforms its price tag. That's something we can get behind with a hearty endorsement.
