Brandy
We’re on a first name basis here, but the whole name “brandywine” is said to have originated from the Dutch brandywijn which means “burnt wine.” Brandy can be made from all kinds of fruit; pears, apples, grapes, etc. The fruit is fermented and then distilled. Some brandies are aged in wood – that’s when they take on a brownish hue, depending on how long they’re aged. Those that aren’t aged in wood remain on the clearer side. We love it straight or on the rocks, but sometimes we like to mix things up. Brandy is a key ingredient in the Sidecar, Brandy Alexander and Brandy Old Fashioned.
