Pay attention, folks. This wine is one of the true finds of this catalog. When a winery we had never heard of takes our tasting panel by storm, it's worth noting (we're a jaded bunch). As one panelist remarked, 'This tastes like Kistler.' Massive, soaring aromatics of lemon oil, hazelnuts and tangerines are packed into a weighty, almost viscous texture on the palate. If this ends up getting a mid-90's score from one of the major critics, we wouldn't be the least bit surprised. Don’t let the price tag fool you… this is big boy territory in the glass.

2007 Godspeed Chardonnay Mt. Veeder

From his mountain perch at nearly 1500 feet, Larry Stricker keeps crafting great stuff. Proving that Chardonnay struggling in nutrient-poor hillside soils can pack a wallop in the glass, Larry is content to be a Zen master in the cellar and lets his vines do the heavy lifting. Clean green apple and lemon zest notes are bound together with a steely backbone and only a whisper of oak smoke works its way into the equation. Plainly, it's an oyster white that's very tough to find.
