What began as a home winemaking experiment has turned into a full-blown love affair with Cabernet Sauvignon. When Steve and Linda Goldfarb started their family winery in 1997 on a small parcel of prime St. Helena dirt they were largely unaware of the caliber of wine that their neighbors' produced. Their prime dirt is surrounded by stalwart vineyards including Las Piedras, Lewelling, and Beckstoffer Dr. Crane to name just a few headliners. After their first experimental '97 vintage, things moved at an accelerated pace. It wasn't long before they'd built a charming stone winery on their property complete with underground caves designed to house their growing arsenal of hand-crafted wines.Today, their vineyard holdings include six acres divided among three parcels, all of which are planted to Bordeaux varietals and are farmed organically. Under the guidance of Mark Porembski, all efforts are channeled into making a singular wine - a Cabernet dominant blend that showcases the grace of each vintage. Their 2010 is densely layered with notes of clove, anise with lifting notes of red fruit and bright acidity - talk about a keeper!
