Here's an extremely rare bottling from the isle of Skye. A delightful multi-faceted malt of great depth that's extraordinarily complex. A bouquet of medium light peat-smoke with the liquor of fresh oysters, and a hint of citrus sweetness that's simply mind-boggling. Ensuing flavors of dried-fruits, clouds of smoke and strong barley-malt become increasingly warm and intense and set the stage for the signature wave of ground pepper that finishes with a kiss of sweetness. This is the sort of 'great stuff' you only break out to celebrate life's pinnacle moments - like sunset for example.
What makes Talisker single malt Scotch whisky so special? As an experienced team, they've all seen fashions come and go in whisky making, but not at Talisker. For over 175 years, their distillation process has remained virtually unchanged. Even a fire in 1960 wasn't going to stop them from making Talisker the traditional way. Instead, they painstakingly recreated our unique wash stills, meticulously following the original design in a typically Skylan triumph of quiet perseverance over adversity. Over the years they may have introduced the necessary health and safety improvements, but despite the seemingly relentless march of progress, they will always double-distil the spirit to create a rich, deep character embodying the maritime characteristics of a whisky made by the sea. Their attention to detail means we will always produce a great dram.
