Rosemary Cakebread’s second wine label, Gallica, is named for a French rose variety prized in perfume. Aromatics in this Grenache-based blend do justice to the name, with sweet rose-petal and cinnamon leading into the dense tiers of spiced, earthy blackberry. Syrah, Mourvedre and Viogner add interest and depth, pulling you through to the persistent, reverberating finish. Once you’ve tried it, you won’t be able to shake it. At this price, you won’t have to!
The 2012 Suzuri Red Wine Shake Ridge Vineyard, Gallica's Grenache-based blend, is supple and radiant throughout. Sweet rose petal, cinnamon ad complexity to a core of red stone fruits. The aromas and flavors are striking for their purity and definition, two sure-fire signs of dedicated farming. The 2012 should drink nicely for a number of years. Today it is flat-out delicious.
