From the high altitude Uco Valley in Argentina comes this outstanding Malbec, from the Finca Don Antonio Estate. This blooms from the glass with black pepper, cumin, candied cherry and raspberry aromas. Our notes say Prime. Rib. City.""
Tomero is a winery owned by the Pulenta family, a force in Argentinian winemaking for three generations. This area of the Uco Valley, to the south of Mendoza, is irrigated by a series of deep channels that crisscross the land. Many years ago, the "Tomero" was the worker responsible for opening and closing the gates to these irrigation channels carrying water down from the Andes.
Vines in this region face harsh winters and warm summers with mild days and very cold nights. The vines are planted in a rocky, sandy loam with medium to low fertility, and good drainage.
Alejandro Canovas is the winemaker at Tomero, and he also oversees enology at the Pulentas' other estates, such as Vistalba. Tomero makes Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Pinot Noir.
