2012 Viña Koyle Cabernet Sauvignon Alto Colchagua Valley
"I love the vibrant, harmonious drinkability of this deep, dark 2012 Viña Koyle Cabernet Sauvignon, laced with red roses and even redder cherries. For less than 20 bucks, this is a steal!" - Chelsea Slody, Wine Scout
Koyle is a Maipù Indian name for the beautiful purple native plant that grows next to oak forests and blossoms with an exotic, desirable fruit. It can be found in the mountainside vineyards of Viña Koyle.
Winemaker Cristobal Undurraga Mackenna trained at Franciscan Estates in Napa, Rosemount Estates in Australia, and then the famed Chateau Margaux in Bordeaux, France. In 2003, he was recruited to become the lead enologist at Vina Kaiken in Argentina. He and his brothers and father are committed to biodynamic farming, and as of 2012 are certified biodynamic by Demeter. They have already fended off a beetle infestation by using tea tree oil and giant electric lamps to zap the bugs at night. Beats pesticide!
