2013 Andrew Will "Sorella" Champoux Vineyard

$79.95

“While it is possible for winemakers to muddy the reputation of a vineyard by hasty winemaking decisions, it is not possible to take fruit from uninteresting properties and turn it through magic into an interesting bottle.” – Chris Camarda

There it is, in a nutshell, the philosophy of Andrew Will winery, a principle Chris Camarda has adhered to since the inception of his winery in 1989. The vineyard comes first. Only great sites like Ciel du Cheval and today’s subject, the 37-year-old vines in Champoux Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills, would do.

Sorella means “sister” in Italian and the wine was named to honor Chris Camarda’s late sister when it was first produced in 1994. The portrait on the label now is Chris’ late wife Annie, who died in 2005.

We don’t say this often, but this wine is one of the very best red wines we tasted, from anywhere, in 2018. We hope you feel the same way. Here are our notes—see if yours match up: “Rich and ripe cherries on the palate. Has it all. Black tea, red cherry, soy, and shiitake. Just gorgeous wine.”
