We loved Steve’s 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon om his home base on Atlas Peak. Bright red uits like red cherries, huckleberries, and cassis meld nicely with classy French oak and mocha tones. Enjoy this little rarity with an exotic braised lamb shank and some lively conversation!
It isn’t often that we offer you a wine made by a former rocket scientist. Owner-winemaker Steve Jennings of Aveo founded this tiny, 500-case winery in 2013, after long stints working as an aerospace engineer for companies like UTC Aerospace, Raydiance Inc, Aerojet, and now Bio-Rad Laboratories here in the Bay Area.
Steve’s vineyard is high on Atlas Peak, at about 1400’ in elevation. He says that “The cooler air here extends the ripening season, allowing the flavor complexity more time to build.” Steve harvests his Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot at the same time, a process he says “fully integrates the flavors to produce a singular, rounded wine.”
