From one of our favorite producers, the fruit for this new cuvée is grown at the base of the Dentelles de Montmirail, a vertical comb of rock that separates the Rhône river and the Ventoux mountains. One look at the terroir and you know this bottle means business. Bright brambly fruits, licorice, orange blossoms, pepper and minerals make for an absolutely spectacular thrill ride for the palate at a price point that seriously over delivers for the money. A U.S. exclusive… 25 cases imported.
Gilles and Thierry Faravel are two talented winemakers who took over from their father, Antonin, in 1988. They are decidedly modernist producers, making clean, precise, rich wines from their 9ha of high-altitude holdings in Gigondas and a few hectares in Vacqueyras. Their father Antonin began domaine bottling in 1979, and previously had sold all of his produce to the village co-operative. These high-altitude vines average 30-50 years of age, and because of their lofty situation just below the Dentelles de Montmirail, they are often some of the last parcels to be picked in the village. If you're looking for power, richness, and peppery punch in your Gigondas, look no further than Domaine la Bouïssière.
