2013 Chateau Rieussec 'Les Carmes de Rieussec' Sauternes
The nose is subtle, with an initial minerality and notes of hot stone and dry grass after a storm. Fruity notes of fresh apricot and some white flowers follow. On the nose and palate, a Sauvignon aroma guides, with a light lemony feel and plenty of freshness on the palate. The confit is discreet, the wood very well integrated, giving life to a chiselled wine.
Wine Advocate
The second wine of Rieussec, the 2013 Carmes de Rieussec is a blend of 83% Semillon, 9% Muscadelle and 8% Sauvignon Blanc. It has a lovely lemon curd, apricot and vanilla-scented nose with modest vigor. The palate has an edgy entry, with touches of citrus peel infusing the viscous fruit, and a dash of spice toward the finish
Wine Spectator
This has maple, bitter orange and singed almond notes, but there's good vivacity as well, with clementine and tangerine threads extending throughout. The lovely, unctuous finish is open and ready now. For fans of the richer style
Decanter
Golden hue. Subtle confit fruit and roasted aromas. The palate is full, round and generous with botrytised, bitter notes on the finish adding freshness.
