We loved this Cabernet for its poise, savory elegance, and restraint. It’s the kind of wine that won’t get the monster, high-90s scores reserved for overripe Cabernet, but rather it’s a juicy, black-fruited, chocolaty Cabernet for drinking now or over the next 10 years.
Crosby-Roamann is our favorite kind of Napa Valley winery: a “mom n’ pop shop,” founded in 2010 by Juliana and Sean McBride a¬fter they loaded up their Volvo station wagon, complete with two baby daughters, and headed west from Brooklyn. Juliana and Sean describe how their winery came to be named: “Our name honors two great women of the McBride family: Sally Roamann, a stage performer and chorus girl in the Roaring 20s known for her firecracker personality, and Norma “Peachy” Crosby, a poet raised in the Great Depression who had a tough-as-nails spirit behind her so¬ beauty. It was a true sense of self and a dedication to their art that forged these remarkable women during difficult times, and it is to these values that Crosby Roamann aspires with every bottle.”
