2013 Hesperian Anatomy #1Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Not only do we not often encounter Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that is both a) presentable and b) $19.95, we very rarely encounter Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that costs $19.95, even on a wholesale basis.
So imagine how enthused we were around the tasting table when we were presented with a Napa Valley Cabernet—from the humble and gifted winemaker Philippe Langner—that was not only presentable, but gorgeously drinkable, for the price of a mere Jackson. This is a rare treat.
It’s a “Pan-Napa” Cabernet, with about half the fruit coming from Yountville, and the rest coming from Atlas Peak, Rutherford, Howell Mountain, Mount Veeder, and Spring Mountain. Balanced and rich, the wine displays aromas of cassis, new leather, milk chocolate, and black cherries. It’s built for pleasure, and it’s built for tonight.
This is a terrific Cab for weeknight consumption and entertaining. Why not put a case on the truck?
