2013 Pahlmeyer Winery Proprietary Red Napa Valley

Crafted from 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec, and 3% Petit Verdot, this is Napa's answer to Mouton-Rothschild: truffly, intense, and black fruited. Parker loved its gorgeously sweet tannins that involve a voluptuously textured, full-bodied, stunningly rich wine with loads of blue, black and red fruits. It has the full fruit spectrum, terrific aromatics and a real opulence and richness. The freshness of the 2013 might even eclipse that of 2012, so this could be a 20-year wine in the making."

There are few names in the business that have assumed legendary status like Jayson Pahlmeyer. In 1986, the first vintage of his Bordeaux-inspired Proprietary Red gained critical acclaim by none other than Robert Parker. In 1991, his first vintage of Chardonnay sold out immediately. It was then vaulted into the vinous celebrity stratosphere when it landed a starring role in the film Disclosure with Michael Douglas & Demi Moore. Twenty-three years later, Jayson is still churning out exceptional juice that garners some serious attention. Most of the fruit for his 2012 Chardonnay hails from their estate Wayfarer Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast, just a stone's throw away from Marcassin Vineyard, resting calmly on California's golden coast. In the end, it's just about superlative fruit, great winemaking and a commitment to delivering one of the most sought after Chardonnays that epitomizes Jayson's dream: producing exceptional wines of power and finesse. One sip and we know you'll agree!
