2013 Podere Sapaio 'Sapaio' Bolgheri Superiore

$62.95
JS94WA93

This wine drew us in with its gorgeous aromas of truffles, sottobosco, (underbrush), black cherry, graphite, and puffs of cocoa. This is Bolgheri by way of Margaux: perfume, grace, and POWER. The Wine Advocate called it a rich and penetrating wine with a long sense of silky persistence. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Initially, the wine feels crisp and delineated. Make no mistake, the power and the brawn creep up on you slowly with firm tannins and black fruit intensity at the back." No joke: This wine compares very favorably with Sassicaia, and is less than half of the price.
