2013 Screaming Eagle 'Second Flight'Proprietary Red Napa Valley Oakville

(0) No Reviews yet

Comprised of 65% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, Second Flight" is not Screaming Eagle's "second wine" per se, but simply a different varietal profile produced from the same prime cut of Oakville terroir. Considering that 2013 Screaming Eagle Cabernet now trades for $2,300 and up, "Second Flight" is a fine relative value.

Long-term loyalty and connections definitely pay off. We have a small allocation of Screaming Eagle’s second wine to offer you. “Second Flight” is a way to experience this mythical terroir in Oakville in a more forward, drinkable style. As is the case with the world’s best “second” wines, this wine is made to be its own animal – it’s not a barrel selection, but more of a parcel selection, with a higher proportion of younger vines and Merlot than Screaming Eagle Cabernet. Act quickly to secure your share, which comes to us direct from this mythical domaine!

“Intense blackberry and blueberry aromas with hints of fresh mushrooms. Black truffles, too. Full-bodied, tight and chewy with polished and velvety tannins. Long and muscular finish. Energetic.” – James Suckling.

“The 2014 Second Flight bristles with all the energy and tension that is such a signature of the vintage. Dark flavors abound, with plenty of black cherry, mocha, espresso and graphite overtones layered throughout. The 2014 is an especially muscular, brooding Second Flight.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous
