2014 Gérard Raphet Pinot Noir Burgundy Charmes-Chambertin
Gérard has done it again with his 2014 Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru "RGS." An amazingly complex nose of black cherry, raspberries and veins of fresh herbs baking spice, sweet cinnamon and allspice. Each time you stick your nose in the glass you pick up something new. Once you take a sip, the velvety texture caresses your tongue as the fruit flavors light up your palate. The tannins are evident, but not overpowering. And the perfect balance of fruit, tannins and acidity lets the wine linger forever on your palate. Once again, proof of why this is one of my all-time favorites." Sam Miller, Wine Scout
From 110-year old vines that still crank out the goods, this is the real deal. Deep black cherry fruit, dried herbs, cinnamon, clove, and black raspberries with that inimitable Raphet savory perfume, this is a grand wine for special occasions."
Crafting an astounding array of Pinot Noir, Gérard focuses his intensity and brilliant winemaking exclusively on the most fickle of grapes. His longstanding local connections afford him access to choice, old-vine parcels of some of Burgundy’s best known vineyards, a huge advantage for a small producer. The focus and purity that Raphet wines display on the palate are the direct result of these stellar sources. They are regularly critical favorites, so we suggest you get them before the media does.
