This wine comes from Inglenook’s estate vineyard, part of which is the Cohn Ranch. Cohn is one of the greatest vineyard sites in the Napa Valley, whose oldest 1945 vines, under separate ownership, are responsible for Scarecrow.
The 2014 Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon is a pure expression of the vintage, showing 93% Cabernet with just a hint of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. The year was a standout, delivering a smooth, generous palate with fine, dusty tannins. Weighty and voluptuous, this Cabernet leans into black fruits and seasoned wood in perfect balance and impressive density. Quite simply, to secure a wine with a bloodline like this for $60 is a steal, plain and simple.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a powerful and dense in the glass. Sweet tobacco, menthol, licorice and grilled herbs give the wine its aromatic nuance. This is an especially savory style, with mid-weight structure and linear tannins that need time to soften. This is a super-classic Rutherford Cabernet.
