2014 Peter Franus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Born in Connecticut, educated in Berkeley with a degree in Journalism, Peter Franus caught the wine bug in the late ’70s and never looked back. He earned a degree in viticulture and enology in 1978, and landed a job as head winemaker for Mount Veeder Winery in 1981. He started his own winery, Peter Franus Wines, in 1987, and in 1992 made it his full-time job, becoming noted for his Brandlin Ranch Zinfandel, a wine we adore.

Peter says this gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of a great site near Joseph Phelps and a vineyard in Carneros, “offers a cascade of forward and inviting aromas of dried herb, classic cassis, sweet vanilla, floral notes and even a hint of cardamom. Quite approachable, it dances on the palate with ripe moderate tannins and good acidity.” This is just a pure, straight-down-the-fairway, balanced and fruit-driven Cabernet. We couldn’t resist it, and we’re sure you won’t be able to either.
