The winemaking genius of Heidi Peterson-Barrett—the lady who put Screaming Eagle on the map—is on full display in this simply seamless bottle of Cabernet. Galloni raved about it, calling it “superb. Nuanced, polished and super-delicious, the 2015 possesses exceptional finesse and texture in the mid-weight, gracious style that is Heidi Barrett's signature. The flavors are dark and incisive in this dark, sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon. Even so, the 2015 retains terrific freshness for the year. Black cherry, lavender, graphite, plum and menthol add striking layers of nuance.” Get at least a few bottles and forget about them for 10 years!

A winemaker who needs no introduction, Heidi Barrett is responsible for some of the best-known wines ever made in California. Some say she created the “cult wine” category with her 100-point work for Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle and Grace Family. But the Queen of Cabernet (Robert Parker gave her that moniker) has been busy since those heady vintages in the 1990s. She’s making her own wine at La Sirena, collaborating with her husband Bo Barrett and consulting on high-profile projects for Kenzo Estate and Au Sommet – which means "at the summit." Barrett and her friend John Schwartz teamed up to create a distinctive Cab grown near the top of Atlas Peak. The wine starts in a vineyard at 2,100 feet, which exposes the vines to warm daytime sun and cool nights. This ensures the grapes develop slowly, while ripening fully, which leads to a complex and balanced wine.

Wine Advocate

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon struts out of the glass with bold cassis, crushed black cherries and blackberries with touches of menthol, pencil lead, tapenade, lavender, espresso and bay leaves. The lively palate is full-bodied with firm, grainy, super ripe tannins and a fantastic mineral-tinged finish.
