95-points, Platinum - Best in Show: Best Red Single-Varietal,
Decanter World Wine Awards 2017

Not a polite and dainty specimen to be sipped inside while listening to Brubeck, this award-winning Single Vineyard Tannat is an outdoor wine, a wine for caballeros, for the campfire bacchanal! Black as night, with gutsy blackberry and blackcurrant aromas, the wine is almost chewy, with hints of white pepper and bitter dark chocolate lingering through the finish. This is a fantastic candidate for the cellar, and a huge bargain.

Decanter said it "offers great balance, full bodied, good grip and succulent black fruits, tobacco and dark chocolate with a fresh finish." Another Decanter reviewer loved its "Intense notes of dark fruits, chocolate and sweet spices. Well built although tannins are quite firm. Very tight but there's striking concentration and a persistent finish. A wine you could happily put away for a while in the cellar."

Napa Cabernet lovers, you're going to want a case of this "Best In Show" winner, and some red meat, stat.

Blessed with pristine views of the Atlantic, an unspoiled ecosystem, and dusty, charismatic back streets, the Punta del Este zone of Uruguay is very quickly becoming a new Côte d’Azur for discerning travelers of means. Nearby, wine entrepreneur Alejandro Bulgheroni established Bodega Garzón, a sustainable, earth-friendly wine estate, restaurant, and private club. Wind and solar power provide 40% of the property’s energy needs, and world-renowned chef Francis Mallman is the Ambassador and Culinary Director for the estate. Quite simply, no expense has been spared to make this winery a showpiece of the southern hemisphere. Blessed with fast-draining granite sands called “balasto,” these rolling hills are heaven for wine grapes, especially Tannat. We were also thrilled to discover some delightful reds like Petit Verdot and Marselan, as well as award-winning Albariño that is some of the best made outside of Spain. We invite you to experience just how sumptuous and luxurious Uruguayan wine can be!
