2015 Burgess 'Sorenson's Reserve' Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena

(Net Item - no discounts apply)

The reserve wines for Burgess are produced with grapes from the oldest vines on the Sorenson vineyard, planted from 1979-1991. The wine has an unctuous mouth coating texture punctuated with dried black plums and caramelized blackberry. Earthy aromas of cigar humidor and baked clay on the palate culminate in a velvety tannic finish.

This has an alluring violet note wrapped around a refined core of warm cassis, steeped plum and black cherry reduction flavors. There is a buried iron note through the finish, which is long and redolent with hints of fruit, while a late tug of warm earth chimes in. Lovely. Best from 2022 through 2035. 300 cases made.
