2015 Heyman-Lowenstein Uhlen "L" Laubach Riesling GG
Ideal conditions and “vinicultural daring” brought about this gorgeous wine. The herbal nose shows yellow fruit and dried flowers, hinting at the savory spice and minerality that continues on the deep, dense palate. A true charmer of a Riesling with subtle funk, mild acidity and a hint of creamy sweetness within.
Wine Advocate
From the Laubach formation of the grand cru, the 2015 Riesling Uhlen L 'VDP Grosse Lage' is super flinty, refined and elegant on the nose where perfectly ripe Riesling and white truffle aromas are displayed. On the palate, this is an intense, dense and finessed Riesling with great tension, salinity and complexity. The finish is aromatic, pure and very long, really what Reinhard Löwenstein was aiming for: to serve the intellectuals as well as the hedonists. A great and age-worthy Riesling.
James Suckling
The H-L the Uhlen “Rothlay” is the official star in the H-L range, but won’t be released until 2017, but this is already a mind-blowing wine. The great depth of super-ripe yellow fruit aromas and stunning textural richness that make this is an arresting wine. In spite of the scale and depth, this has great finesse at the very long finish.
