The Masi story begins in 1772, when the Boscaini family acquired prestigious vineyards in the small valley called “Vaio dei Masi”, hence the company’s name. The company is still family owned and run by the sixth and seventh generations. We adore the easy, almost lazy complexity seen in this wine, the layers and long finish feel effortless on the palate. Suckling loved this Amarone from the ‘evening slope’, “The balance in this Amarone is so beautiful with chocolate, berry, walnut and cedar character. Medium to full body, polished and silky tannins and a flavorful finish.”
Another fantastic effort from the slopes (Costasera) that face the sunset, drink a glass watching the sunset and be jealous that those grapes enjoyed that view all summer and fall.
This opens beautifully to reveal violets, blueberries, licorice, citrus, oyster shell and orange rind. So velvety and polished, but with real depth and structure. Medium-to full-bodied with delightful fruit and a long finish. Drink in 2021 but already so satisfying.WE93
Underbrush, ripe plum, camphor and spice are just some of the aromas you’ll find in this full-bodied red. Juicy and savory, the bold palate offers blackberry jam, prune, licorice and tobacco alongside an earthy hint of truffle. Velvety tannin's provide seamless support. Drink through 2027.VN91
Dark, rich and spicy, the 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Costasera lifts from the glass with ease. Dark chocolate, savory cherry sauce, lavender and tobacco can all be found here. It’s silky in texture, yet it finds balance through a mix of vibrant acidity and a tart display of wild berry fruits. This tapers off with admirable freshness, as well as a coating of round tannin which should carry the 2015 for over a decade in the cellar. Drinking window: 2022 - 2032DC90
Red cherry, wild strawberry and floral nose. Evolved flavours of toasted walnuts, dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Long spicy finish.
