Anna Monticelli is one of the next up and coming winemakers that will flat out knock your socks off.
This is the full-bodied, intense blackberry, cassis, dusty stone, and rich spice box you expect from a $100 Cab. Sourced from meticulously farmed vineyards in Howell Mountain, Calistoga, and St. Helena, and using warming and toasty 50% new French oak, this is absolutely one of the best Cabs under $50. Pick up a case of this silky opulence.
Made by the talented Anna Monticelli, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is a smoking value that competes with wines that run 2-3 times its price. Deep, layered notes of cassis, toasted spices, graphite, and obvious minerality emerge from this medium to full-bodied, ripe, sexy, yet perfectly balanced Napa Valley Cabernet that’s drinking beautifully today. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Malbec, aged 20 months in 50% new French oak, it over-delivers and will keep for 10-15 years.
Deep garnet with a hint of purple, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon springs from the glass with bold plum preserves, warm blackberries and black forest cake with hints of cigar box and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, elegant and with a firm structure, it finishes long and savory. Delicious right now!
