The newcomer to the bunch, Thomas Vineyard is located on the hillside west of Napa Valley at the northernmost point of Rutherford. We can see why A.O. picked this site, the wine is packed with structure, elegance and density. Ripe bing cherry and cassis notes, dense in structure with a core vein of that good ol’ Rutherford dust that lingers on the finish. This is old school Napa with a bit of new school flare. Fair warning, those whom have tried this, also try to come back for more!
Lots of spice, sagebrush, purple iris, and blue fruits emerge from the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach, which has a classic, structured, full-bodied profile on the palate. From a larger site on Atlas Peak and aged in 80% new oak, it has lots of potential yet needs 2-3 years of bottle age.
