2016 Bacio Divino Proprietary Red Napa Valley

$99.95 $110.00 (-9%)

Another dreamboat from Claus Janzen, this Cab based blend is balanced with what the winery calls, “a kiss of Sangiovese.” The result is a crush of fruit; blackberries, currents, and plums mingle with exotic spices. This wine is walking out of your dreams, into your heart, and onto your dinner table.

Claus Janzen is a man who knows Cabernet. Having worked for and with some very prominent Napa properties over the years, he understands the rhythms of the vineyard and what it takes to make great stuff. He's also an innovator in the cellar, having successfully spearheaded wines like Bacio Divino, where non-traditional combinations have enjoyed considerable critical praise. Robert Parker commented that "the strength of his portfolio remains his innovative blends." Working with Nils Venge, the first American winemaker to ever receive a "100-point" rating, and Nils' talented son Kirk, Claus continues to expand his offerings, including a very limited batch of single-vineyard, single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignons from a few very select vineyards. We expect his string of success to continue well into the future.

Te 2016 Artful Red Blend is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Sangiovese coming from Beckstoffer To Kalon (40%), Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper (30%), Beckstoffer George III (25%) and Antica (5%—the Sangiovese). Deep purple-black colored, the 2016 Artful Red Wine reveals wonderful purity and intensity on the nose, giving notes of crushed blackberries and redcurrants with a core of cassis and nuances of black pepper, tree bark, truffles, licorice and cinnamon stick. Full-bodied and boldly fruited in the mouth, the crushed black fruit and anise-inspired layers have a solid backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy.

The 2016 Divine Kiss comes all from Beckstoffer sites (To Kalon, Missouri Hopper, George III, and Antica) and is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon blended with 5% Sangiovese. Its deep purple color is followed by a powerful yet elegant aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, spiced plums, licorice, mocha, and Asian spices. With beautiful purity and elegance on the palate, it has full-bodied richness, subtle background oak, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It’s an incredibly classy Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that will keep for two decades.
