This festive Brunello, from the only cooperative in Montalcino, opens with dried cherries, orange zest and Christmas spices. A lengthy, balanced composition follows, filled with red plums and cherries set against brambly tannins that contribute to an intriguing tension and excellent structure. As Suckling notes, “this is a silky, balanced, delightful offering.”
This has a complex nose of black plums, cloves and cigar smoke. Lots of chocolate. It's full-bodied with good depth and intensity. Firm but ripe tannins. Chocolate and cherries on the finish.
