2016 Faust 'The Pact' Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville, Napa Valley

It’s not too often we find a high-scoring, single vineyard Cabernet that’s been the top sources for Quintessa and Faust for under $100, but when we do, you will be one of the first to know. We just received a small allocation of this rare bottling called “The Pact,” a special single vineyard offering from Faust made from the very best barrels from their Coombsville Home Vineyard. Fans of Faust, Caldwell, Whetstone and Quintessa take note, this is a rarity you do not want to pass up on…and you don’t have to make a deal with the devil to drink the “good stuff.” You just need to have a friend in the wine business looking out for you.

This is very layered and beautiful with tannins that unfold horizontally and melt into the wine. So much subtle and complex currant and green-olive character with a hint of fresh tobacco. Drink or hold.

Wine Advocate

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon The Pact is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 19 months in 50% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple colored, it reveals bold red and black currants scents with touches of crushed rocks, new leather, fried herbs, rose hip tea and wood smoke plus a hint of incense. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers and rock-solid structure of firm, ripe, grainy tannins framing the muscular fruit, finishing very long and mineral laced.
