Breaking tradition, Catena Zapata winemaker Estela Perinetti chose the stoniest and highest lot to produce the first Malbec of the family vineyard. This wine is her interpretation of the Bordeaux varieties in this unique terroir. A stylish and polished blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Malbec, it presents as a dark, ruby-red with aromas of violet and black currant. Fresh acidity and a long, voluptuous finish complete this Argentinian delight.
Exotic aromas of dried spices, desert herbs, leafy berry fruits and violets are attractive given how rainy the 2016 vintage was throughout Mendoza. Delicious berry fruit flavors include hints of cardamom, herbs and integrated oak spice, while Tupungato's herbal essence is front and center on a warm and long finish. *Editors' Choice* (MS)JS91
