Russell Bevan and Matt Simpson (partners in crime from Chateau Boswell) joined up with Stu Lerner, sourced from the best vines in Napa Valley, and put together this near perfect beast. This is a big wine that doesn’t give an inch on elegance, walking that line between earthy femininity and full-bodied bruiser. Hazelnut chocolate, raspberry, pomegranate and coriander integrate beautifully for a full, palate pleasing experience.
A broader, more expansive wine, the 2016 RMS Red Wine is equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc brought up in new oak. It offers a full-bodied, powerful yet surprisingly elegant style to go with sumptuous notes of blackcurrants, blueberries, chocolate, graphite, and earthy minerality. With a great mid-palate, sweet tannins, and terrific concentration, it’s another gem from this lineup.
