2016 Ojai Puerta del Mar Chardonnay Santa Barbara County

“Puerta de Mar,” or “The Door to The Sea,” is a new vineyard for Ojai, planted ½ mile east of highway 1 just outside of Lompoc. It's their coolest site, very influenced by fogs coming off the Pacific, and has appealing plushness and notes of Mirabelle plums and peaches. The Wine Advocate loved its “crisp bouquet of citrus zest, white flowers, sea breeze and struck match. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, elegantly glossy and bright, built around a racy line of acidity and concluding with a tangy, chalky finish.”
