A new project from Mike Etzel of Beaux Fréres and his partner Carey Critchlow, Sequitur vineyard is conveniently planted just next to Upper Terrace vineyard of Beaux Fréres’. Now, there’s something to be said about a home estate, like Sequitur, where Mike and Carey have had the privilege of being intimately involved in the planting and upbringing of the vineyard. They were able to be totally present during the growing season, from vine pruning in the winter to biodynamic sprays throughout the growing season to leaf canopy management in the summer. They are active in all aspects of the vineyard’s evolution and make decisions along the way that help create a wine of distinction. Located in Oregon's Willamette Valley A.V.A., Ribbon Ridge is a small sub-region of the Chehalem Mountains where Pinot Noir thrives in the terroir and produces elegant wines with structure and concentrated flavors. The 2016 Sequitur Pinot Noir is an earthy and savory medium-to-full bodied wine with dark cherries and blackberries with layers of earth, Middle Eastern spices and a long, floral finish. One sip of this wine and our tasting panel was blown away - this is what great Oregon Pinot tastes like.
