2016 The Crane Assembly GB Crane 3pk OWC

The team never intended to make a Cabernet Sauvignon, despite Napa Valley appetites and the obvious suitability of the terroir. The friends who came together to invest in this unique 8-acre vineyard were more interested in preserving this slice of history, first established by Dr. Crane in 1885 and farmed continuous for well over a century. A field blend of the so called “mixed blacks” was in their future, as Dr. Crane had likely intended. But any great winemaker knows to let the wine lead the way and, when they tasted the Cabernet Sauvignon, they knew it deserved its own bottling. Layered aromatics of licorice and tobacco become cassis and cacao, then black tea and cigar box. Structured and mouthwatering, this is a satisfying ride from start to finish and, with a 3pk in hand, it’s one you trip you can take again in five years, and then ten. Or tuck the box somewhere safe and wait for cult status to be cemented.
