2017 Bodega Garzon 'Petit Clos' Cabernet Franc Uruguay

“Personality and finesse” embody what this wine is all about. Bright aromatics of blueberry, dark plum citrus, herbs and a touch of baking spice. It follows with a light tannin and sleek palate that does not overwhelm. Beautiful acidity completes a slight mineral finish. One glass won’t be enough, be ready to pour yourself another.

Blessed with pristine views of the Atlantic, an unspoiled ecosystem, and dusty, charismatic back streets, the Punta del Este zone of Uruguay is very quickly becoming a new Côte d’Azur for discerning travelers of means. Nearby, wine entrepreneur Alejandro Bulgheroni established Bodega Garzón, a sustainable, earth-friendly wine estate, restaurant, and private club. Wind and solar power provide 40% of the property’s energy needs, and world-renowned chef Francis Mallman is the Ambassador and Culinary Director for the estate. Quite simply, no expense has been spared to make this winery a showpiece of the southern hemisphere. Blessed with fast-draining granite sands called “balasto,” these rolling hills are heaven for wine grapes, especially Tannat. We were also thrilled to discover some delightful reds like Petit Verdot and Marselan, as well as award-winning Albariño that is some of the best made outside of Spain. We invite you to experience just how sumptuous and luxurious Uruguayan wine can be!

Intense aromas of tar and black fruit. Hints of cedar and blueberries. Full-bodied, tight and polished with beautiful tannins that run down the center palate. Drink in 2022.

Located in eastern Uruguay, Bodega Garzón is producing several world-class wines, including this Cabernet Franc aged for 16 months in large casks. It delivers a nose of black cherries, balsamic aromas and well-integrated oaky notes. Savoury and dense. Drinking Window 2020 - 2027

Wine Enthusiast

Earthy, chunky berry aromas are inexact and a touch funky, while a dry, sinewy palate is extracted and overweight. Earthy, saucy plum and berry flavors are herbal, then olive and beefy notes appear on a thick finish.
