This offers the greatness of one of Napa Valley's finest small producers without the $500 price tag. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc with the balance Petit Verdot, this is a beautiful wine with the classic vibe of the estate. Medium to full bodied with a rounded, textured mouthfeel and beautiful aromas and flavors of cassis, currants, Asian spice, and floral aromatics. Dunnuck called this wine “a stunning value,” and we couldn’t agree more!
Naoko Dalla Valle’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines, astride terra rossa soils high above the Silverado Trail in Oakville, are the stuff of myth. With a tantalizingly small amount of wine made, nearly all of their production is sold direct to their mailing list. Thankfully Bounty Hunter has been on board from the beginning, and each year we obtain a small parcel to offer you, including the rare and occasionally “perfect” Maya.
What could be thought of as the entry-level wine from this benchmark estate, the 2017 Collina is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. There’s not much made (600 cases) but it’s a beautiful wine that certainly has the classic vibe of the estate as well as medium to full body, a rounded, textured mouthfeel, solid mid-palate density, and beautiful cassis, currants, Asian spice, and flowery incense aromatics. Given the prices of Napa Valley Bordeaux blends these days, it’s a stunning value.
