This 2017 starts off with dusty cherries, berry pie, vanilla and lead onto the palate with a mouth-coating plushness. It has a medium to full body, nice acid backbone, and velvety texture that lingers. Grab 12 bottles and be impressed from glass one until you’re coming back for more.
The duo of Keith Emerson and Brian Brown are one helluva powerhouse wine team. Their day jobs at big name wineries were already impressive, so why would two gainfully employed gents, who had it made at successful wine ventures, take a risk and upstart their own label? Because they could, and more importantly because they just couldn't pass up a golden opportunity to make wines from highly coveted fruit sources. It all started in a vintage that was marked by abundant quality and quantity. One harvest afternoon, a pint of beer (maybe two) later, Keith and Brian had struck up a partnership Having a shared philosophy that fine wine production maintains a consistency of balance and style, while preserving elegance from vintage to vintage, they've proven with each subsequent release that it can be true.Their logo on the bottle depicts a California poppy laced with gold nuggets - a little bit of cultural and historical homage to the natural bounty of the Golden State. While their style is decidedly bold, they achieve balanced wines through disciplined winegrowing and winemaking techniques. We're so glad these guys weren't content to just make wine for somebody else.
