Obsidian Ridge is located in the new Red Hills Lake County appellation—somewhere between Lake, Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. This fruit is grown at an amazing 2,640 feet of altitude. Combine struggling vines that produce ultra-concentrated fruit with a world-class winemaker, and you have a Cabernet with aromatic intensity and an elegant expression, allowing the mountain fruit to shine through. Winemaker Alex Beloz hit this one out of the park. Watch it fly.
This ageworthy Cabernet is extremely deep and concentrated, but holding everything rather tightly at this young age. Aromas of tamarind and tobacco lead to dense flavors of blueberry, black cherry and dark chocolate that expand on the palate beautifully. It was aged in Hungarian barrels, 45% new.
