2017 Rocca di Frassinello 'Le Sughere di Frassinello'
This juicy Super Tuscan is deep ruby in color, hinting at the depth of bright red fruits packed withing. Aromas of wild rosemary, thyme and camphor draw you in to the cherries, chocolate and teasing hint of orange. Held together with an iron edge, this unfolds on the palate into a long and flavorful finish.
Wine Spectator
Tar, pine resin and eucalyptus aromas are countered by massive blackberry and black currant fruit in this complex, assertive red, with a generous dose of toasty oak. Beefy tannins match the fruit but sit apart for now. Try now for a ride on the wild side, or age short-term. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
James Suckling
A bold, spicy wine that shows dried oregano, burnt blackberries, tar and incense. Despite the initial heady impression, the palate is finely woven and precise, framing grainy tannins. Nevertheless, the finish is quite robust and decadent. Drink from 2021.
