Saint Helena's wine pioneer Dr. Crane retired in the 1870s, and Cabernet Sauvignon was likely first planted there before the turn of the century. The Salvestrin family, who bought the vineyard from Dr. Crane's heirs in 1932, and have farmed it ever since. Their section of Dr. Crane produces intensely mineral, expressive red wines that are very long-lived. Their 2017 Dr. Crane Estate Cabernet is going to be a ROCKSTAR of your cellar! The Wine Advocate flipped for it: "Blended with 10% Merlot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Crane Vineyard gives up warm red and black fruits, earth and iron ore with notes of meats and cedar. The palate is full-bodied, firm and chewy with a good core, finishing long and mineral laced." - The Wine Advocate
