2017 Selvapiana 'Bucerchiale' Riserva Chianti Rufina

$39.95

This Chianti is as popular with our Scouts as it is with the critics. 100% Sangiovese delivers pure varietal character with firm, serious tannins balanced by bright, fresh acidity. This was built to be a long-aging benchmark of the Estate with fruit from their finest vineyard, perched against the Appenine mountains, so don’t be shy about stocking up – the value for the price is unbeatable, and the layers of plush red fruit will be just reward for your forward-thinking ways.

James Suckling

Very intense blackberries and spice with some earth and violets. Really complex. Full-bodied with layers of ripe tannins, yet they are firm and formed. Shows how well this cool area does in a hot vintage. Attractive now, but needs time to open. Try after 2023.

Wine Spectator

Dark and brooding, this red features ripe black cherry, blackberry, wild herb, earth and iron flavors. Gains in richness, density and ripeness what it loses in freshness, though shows fine balance and length. Drink now through 2028.
