We have never even had the opportunity to offer the Drake Vineyard Chardonnay because of limited supply but luckily we were able to secure a small allocation. The Wine Advocate has been a long-time fan of this wine noting “it reminds me somewhat of a Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne”, which is high-praise for such a noted and legendary Grand Cru Burgundy as a comparison. Floral and honeysuckle aromatics are prominent but it is the citrus and tangerine rind that drives this right down the center of your palate like rocket ship. Hence the Corton-Charlemagne comparison which is spot on. Grab some of this while we have the stocks on hand. This is some serious and racy Chardonnay that is quite compelling.
