One of the most revered wines from Williams Selyem, the 2017 Estate is for those who like their Pinot Noirs with depth, grip and backbone. This is the most structured and rich offerings from the winery in 2017. Imagine dark cherry fruit, super-ripe raspberries and even a touch of blood orange on the tail end of the palate with black tea and cardamom notes emanating out of the glass - all at full throttle! While we would recommend giving this one a few years in the cellar to enjoy at its best, many fans can’t wait and go for their corkscrews as soon as it arrives. Our advice, grab a six pack of the Estate to your cellar and add some of the Eastside Road or Ferrington bottlings to drink in the near term. But make sure you stock up on this one now as it will surely sell out as it does year in and out.
The 2017 Pinot Noir Williams Selyem Estate Vineyard is powerful and tightly wound, with less of the appeal found in most of these 2017s. That shouldn't be too much of an issue in another few years' time, but readers should plan on being patient.
