This is a fresh, vibrant Chardonnay with a light touch of oak leaning into a satisfying richness. Classic notes of caramelized lemon and creme brulee dance on the palate with ripe nectarines and more tropical fruits. The 2018 is a particularly good vintage for this label, with expansive and commanding acidity and a long, luxurious finish. It’s ready to drink from the moment it arrives at your door.
Over the past 141 years, Beringer has built its name on quality and consistency. The oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley (they used a federal license during Prohibition that allowed them to make wine for religious purposes), they’ve been instrumental in both the development of Napa’s international reputation while simultaneously serving as a critical link to its past.
This is a really solid white with so much structure and depth, as well as a border-less, encompassing palate. Full-bodied and polished with lots of length. Shows complex flavors, from cooked apples and lemons to stones and hints of flowers. Still tight. Needs time to come together. Drink after 2021.
